Today, I downloaded a trial of Microsoft Office Professional, and when I went to activate it, the trial date said it would expire some time in 2002. Now I can't use it. I'm thinking it's because I have a previous install of Office standard. The computer clock is correct, so I really don't know why it's an earlier date. If I uninstall Office standard, will I lose the lisence for it? I don't want to be locked out of it because I used the code 3 times already. Is there a general computing mailing list, so I don't have to keep asking these questions on here?
Thanks.
there's nothing wrong with asking questions on here, it could actually help others. as for your problem, wish i could help
Call Microsoft, and tell them the situation that you're having with the computer, and the key. They should be able to help you.
If you already have a licensed copy of office you must upgrade you can not try a new one unless it is a beta vversion.Example you own standard, but you'd like to see what pro offers. You already know that you like office, so if that is the case then Microsoft wants you to upgrade. If you uninstall your good copy then install the trail it might work, but chances are you won't do a clean install, so the key is still on your system.
